Tsavorite
About Tsavorite
A vivid green grossular garnet colored by vanadium and chromium. It was discovered by British geologist Campbell Bridges in northeastern Tanzania in 1967 and later found in Kenya. Tiffany and Co promoted it in 1974 and named it after Tsavo National Park. It is usually cleaner than emerald, with fewer inclusions. Clean stones over a few carats are very rare. Bridges was killed near his Kenyan mine in 2009.
