About Red Beryl

One of the rarest gemstones on Earth - found primarily in the Wah Wah Mountains of Utah. It is 1,000x rarer than diamond. Fine specimens sell for $10,000+ per carat. It was discovered in 1905. The color comes from manganese. It is also called bixbite, red emerald, or scarlet emerald. Crystals are usually small - gems over 1 carat are extremely rare. Only one commercial mine has ever existed, now closed. It is the rarest form of beryl. Over 95% of mined material is too included to facet.
