About Beryl (Golden)

Also called heliodor, from Greek helios (sun). It is the yellow variety of beryl, colored by iron. It is harder and more durable than citrine. Brazil and Namibia produce the finest specimens. It can range from pale yellow to deep gold. It is one of the most affordable beryl varieties. Large clean gems are available. It was known in ancient times and used in cameos. It has excellent brilliance and fire. It is related to emerald and aquamarine. It is sometimes confused with yellow sapphire.
