It can display a beautiful honey-gold color. Faceted gems over 2 carats are rare. It is a member of the humite group. It is found in contact metamorphic rocks. It has a high refractive index giving it excellent brilliance. It is relatively unknown outside collector circles. Fine gems command high prices per carat.
