About Chrysoberyl

The third hardest common gemstone after diamond and corundum. It is unrelated to beryl despite the name. Alexandrite and cats eye chrysoberyl are its most famous varieties, but plain chrysoberyl is also beautiful. It has high brilliance and exceptional hardness. It is found in Brazil, Sri Lanka, and Madagascar. It has been known since ancient times. It is relatively affordable compared to its famous color-change variety. It makes excellent everyday jewelry due to its hardness. It occurs in granite pegmatites and mica schists.
