About Amber

Tree resin fossilized over millions of years - Baltic amber is 30-50 million years old. It can preserve insects and organisms in perfect 3D detail (inclusions). The largest amber deposit is in the Baltic region. Amber with insect inclusions can sell for thousands of dollars. The Amber Room in Russia, decorated with 6 tons of amber, was called the Eighth Wonder of the World before disappearing during WWII. It is warm to the touch and develops static electricity when rubbed - the ancient Greeks called it elektron, giving us the word electricity. Dominican blue amber fluoresces blue under UV light. It floats in saltwater.
