Apatite (Neon)
About Apatite (Neon)
The most vividly colored apatite comes from Madagascar, displaying a neon paraiba-like blue-green that is extraordinary. It gets its intense color from trace amounts of manganese. It is unfortunately soft for everyday wear but makes stunning occasional pieces. It can resemble very expensive paraiba tourmaline. It fluoresces under UV light. It is relatively affordable despite its remarkable color. It is found worldwide but neon-quality material is primarily from Madagascar. It should be stored carefully to avoid scratches.
